The countdown is on! Christmas is just a few weeks away and unless you’re a Christmas ninja who’s already placed your autumn decor in your locker and stuck a holiday decoration in every room of your home (kudos to you!) many will set aside this weekend to exchange their regular condo decor for red and green hues. Tis’ the season! If you are a Christmas ninja, you’ll want to keep reading too, as you’re sure to find some sweet condo decor tips that may enhance your current space even more.
Condos are special, because not only do they have the ability to provide freedom from maintenance you might not have the time, desire or ability to manage, like mowing the lawn, snow removal or repairing your rooftop, they also provide the finer things in life - a lifestyle supported by security and convenient amenities. Security such as gated or locked entries and concierge service, sweet amenities with unlimited access for yourself, your family and visitors (goodbye gym membership) and most importantly, that condo lifestyle that comes with a high walk score and easy access to urban activities.
Yes, condos are special, but we can’t forget to mention condo owners! Often, we’re proud minimalists (or at least we try to be) and we’ve learned to master our space without compromising our lifestyle, creativity, and own personal style. And just because we don't all live big, sprawling homes with a big evergreen on the front yard, that expression of style and desire for a more minimalist life need not be hampered through the holidays. For all of our fellow condo dwellers or soon to be condo owners, here are some ideas and inspiration to spark your inner Kindle and decorate your condo for a very Merry Christmas.

Your mantle can easily be an eye catching location in your living space, so run wild and add large and small candles, white Christmas lights and touches of black, white, gold and silver decorations and a touch of greenery is always easy on the eyes. It’s the little things that count, right? Holiday decor looks best when it’s equally spread throughout a home, yes, that includes your kitchen, living room, den and perhaps even your bathroom! Last on the list - be sure to incorporate holiday elements that can be repurposed throughout the year. Jane Lockhart is an interior design professional and shares “Since I don’t have room to store seasonal décor, I make sure that what I have can be repurposed throughout the year – like lanterns, candles and lights. Adding a few seasonal pillows injects a practical holiday element. A small sheepskin rug adds a Nordic flavour, and is useful for warming toes throughout the winter months.” Great point! In addition to that, she suggests to add a basket of pinecones and birch logs beside the tree. It might seem like an unusual choice, but harmonization is imperative when living in a condo, and this helps to reduce the visual clutter that can often be a problem when adding so many other elements at this time of year.
