Condo Decorating Insights for Halloween

By Condo Culture

Halloween is right around the corner, boo! Get the pumpkins out, turn on those bright orange lights and bring on the cobwebs, spiders, and spooky decor!

Oh, did you think you needed a front porch to celebrate one of the most festive holidays of the year? Think again! Now when it comes to condos, there are certain rules and bylaws that an owner must respect and abide by, but that doesn’t mean NO to Halloween fun!

How To Manage Halloween Decorations While Living in a Condo

With regards to decorating the inside of your condo, go nuts! It’s your home, so feel free to get creative. The outside of your condo, on the other hand, may have some restrictions. Start by reading your condo board’s bylaws before putting anything up on your front door or balcony. The condo rules and bylaws can be found in the declaration that you received when you purchased your condo. Alternatively, have your agent ask the property management company for specifics, or check with the selling agent to see if they have a copy of the rules and bylaws for you to read over before you make a commitment. So be sure to check in with your condo board before hanging that cut-off arm or leg on your front door, either for you as a resident or for your tenants if they request information.

If your condo board does approve some level of Halloween spirit, we’ve got some sweet decor inspiration that you’ll absolutely want to pay attention to.

How To Manage Trick-or-Treaters in a Condo

Now onto the delicious stuff, CANDY! If you’re wondering whether or not you should be buying some candy and throwing it into a bowl for those adorable trick-or-treaters, you might want to know that in most condo buildings, door-to-door trick or treating is not permitted. Of course, there are some exceptions to this rule, so we would advise to check in with your condo board and ask about the stipulations.

Now here’s the good news, in most cases, the concierge will keep a bowl of candy available for children at the front desk so they can feel like they’ve participated in the Halloween festivities!
